# Sports physical therapy and return to sport

You finished rehab. You can walk, jog, maybe even run. But the first time you cut hard, jump or sprint, you're holding back, and part of you is waiting for it to happen again.

Pain free isn't the same as ready. Your sport asks for speed, landing, cutting and reaction, and most rehab never gets there. We build you all the way back, then test it, so you play like yourself again.

Who we work with

## Sports injuries we treat

Basketball, tennis, pickleball, soccer, volleyball, flag football, jiu-jitsu, rec leagues and former college athletes who still compete.

1

### Ankle sprains and Achilles injuries

Rolled ankles that keep rolling, Achilles tendon pain and rehab after an Achilles tear.

2

### Knee injuries and ACL rehab

ACL and meniscus rehab after surgery, patellar tendon pain, and knees that don't trust cutting or landing.

3

### Hamstring and groin strains

The strain that keeps coming back every time you sprint, kick or change direction.

4

### Shoulder and elbow pain

Serving, throwing, spiking and overhead pain, including tennis and golfer's elbow.

5

### Low back pain from your sport

Back pain from rotation, landing or the repetitive load of your sport.

6

### Back, but not the same

You're playing again, but slower, more careful and less explosive than before.

The real reason

## Why athletes get hurt again

Most re-injuries don't happen because the first injury was bad. They happen because rehab stopped too early.

1

### Pain free isn't ready

The pain is gone, but strength, power and control haven't come back to where your sport needs them.

2

### Rehab never got fast

Walking, bands and slow exercises don't prepare you to sprint, land, cut and react at game speed.

3

### Your body found a workaround

After an injury, you quietly shift load to the other side or another area. That compensation is often where the next injury comes from.

![Dr. Nevin Saju coaching a loaded lunge, building strength for return to sport](https://www.revenantpt.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IMG_3574.jpeg?width=1200&name=IMG_3574.jpeg)

The process

## How we get you back to your sport

1

### Calm it down

Settle the pain and swelling while you keep as much fitness as possible.

2

### Rebuild capacity

Strength, mobility and control, side to side, until the injured side can do what the other side does.

3

### Get fast again

Speed, jumping, landing, cutting and reaction, progressed step by step.

4

### Train like your sport

Drills and loads that look like your game, so your body and your confidence are both ready.

5

### Test before you play

Strength and movement testing so you return because you're ready, not because the calendar says so.

Our take

## Why most sports rehab falls short

You get discharged when you can walk without pain. Then you're on your own to figure out the hardest part: getting back to full speed.

That gap is where most re-injuries happen. We stay with you through it, from the first step to the first full game, and we use testing, not guesses, to decide when you're ready.

Real results

## What athletes get back

### Back to soccer after 5 years

Unable to play for five years after ACL surgery. Three months later, back on the field.

### Ten years of shoulder pain, no surgery

Considering surgery after a decade of shoulder pain. Now pain free and back to tennis, basketball and jiu-jitsu.

### Achilles tear to back on the court

After several clinics, an Achilles rehab built around getting back to basketball.

Reviews

## What athletes say

5.0 ★★★★★ from 90+ Google reviews

“I was unable to play soccer for 5 year after (ACL) surgery 3 months with him were enough to return to play soccer.”

**Jerson L.**
Soccer, after ACL surgery

“I was having so much shoulder pain (for the last 10 years!) I was considering getting shoulder surgery because I couldn't do the sports I enjoyed (Tennis, Basketball, BJJ). Nevin diagnosed and helped treat the issues that many others had missed and I am now pain free and more active than ever.”

**Austin S.**
Tennis, basketball and jiu-jitsu

“I tore my Achilles playing basketball and tried many different physical therapy clinics but I wasn't getting the proper care that I needed to get back on the court… We were doing things that were getting my body back in shape to play basketball.”

**Saahil A.**
Basketball, Achilles tear

“I can confidently say now that these injuries are in a much, much, MUCH more tolerable range and I can return to my physical activities and sports at a level where I was before the injuries happened.”

FAQ

## Frequently asked questions

### When can I go back to my sport?

When you pass the testing, not just when enough time has passed. We check strength, landing, cutting and sport-specific movement so you return because you're ready.

### Do you do ACL rehab?

Yes. We follow your surgeon's guidelines after ACL reconstruction and take you all the way through return-to-sport testing, not just to walking and jogging.

### My doctor cleared me, but I don't feel ready. Is that normal?

Very common. Clearance usually means the tissue has healed, not that your strength, speed and confidence are back. Closing that gap is what this work is for.

### Do I have to stop playing?

Not always. Depending on the injury, we can often keep you playing at a modified level while we rebuild. If you need a break, I'll tell you why and how long.

### Can you help me avoid getting hurt again?

Yes. Re-injury usually comes from leftover weakness or compensation. We find those gaps and train them before they become the next injury.

### How long does it take?

It depends on the injury. Many sprains and strains take 4 to 8 weeks to get back to full play. Post-surgery rehab like ACL takes much longer, and we map out the timeline at your evaluation.

### When should I see a doctor first?

If you felt a pop with fast swelling in your knee, can't put weight on your leg, dislocated a joint, or have any concussion symptoms like headache, confusion or dizziness after a hit, see a physician first. Otherwise, you can start with physical therapy without a referral.
